The number of workplace accidents continues to drop and has fallen 23.2% since 2007, the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court says.
In 2007, the agency reported 49,512 workplace injuries, compared to 38,041 for 2016. Men accounted for 56.5% of the injuries last year, and more injuries occurred among workers ages 20 to 29 than from any other age group.
Upper extremities by far accounted for the most injured body parts, while strains and falls were the cause of most injuries.
There were more manufacturing injuries reported than from any other industry, the court said.
