The New York Workers' Compensation Board is reminding insurers and self-insurered employers that starting Sept. 1, they must provide contact information for the drug formulary system.
It's part of a plan to create a web-based prior authorization portal that is set to go live by November, the board said this week. Medical providers should be able to use the portal to quickly receive answers on the use of medications that are not listed as approved on the new formulary, which was adopted earlier this year. All new prescriptions must comply with the formulary by Dec. 5.
