A 28-year-old ex-firefighter is going to trial to defend himself against workers’ compensation fraud charges, having collecting almost $4,000 in benefits since 2013, according to the Florida newspaper The Palm Beach Daily News.
Jeremy DeRosa claimed he had fallen in his fire house kitchen in July 2013, injuring his ankle. He had filed for workers’ compensation, went on paid administrative leave and was prescribed to wear an air cast by his doctor.
