The New York State Workers' Compensation Board has dropped the assessment rate on employers for 2020, the board announced.
The rate will drop from the 2019 rate of 12.6% of standard premium or premium equivalent to 12.2%, starting Jan. 1, according to a bulletin from the board. For 2018, the rate was set at 12.1%. For 2017, it was 12.2%.
The assessment is used to fund the administration of the workers' compensation system, and to fund benefits paid to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.
