A 34-year-old South Carolina man pleaded guilty last week to sawing off the hand of a mentally disabled co-worker in a scheme to collect $671,000 from homeowners' and accidental death-and-dismemberment policies.According to news reports, Gerald Hardin III, of Cayce, S.C., pleaded guilty in federal court on Aug. 21 to using a pole saw to remove the hand of Michael "Porkchop" Weaver in May 2008.
