Levying assessments on insurance companies to fund fraud prosecutions is not unique to Texas, but a long-standing contract uncovered by the Texas Tribune and the Austin American-Statesman reveals a unique deal through which the state's largest workers' compensation carrier is contracting directly with the Travis County District Attorney's Office.
