Neurosurgeon Settles Fraud Allegations for $4.4M

The U.S. Department of Justice announced that Dr. Wilson Asfora of South Dakota and two medical device distributorships he owns agreed to pay a combined $4.4 million to settle kickback and unnecessary surgery allegations. Medical Designs LLC and Sicage LLC both agreed to pay an additional $100,000 in penalties to settle allegations that they failed to report Asfora’s ownership interests to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
