The owner of a West Virginia moving company was sentenced to one year in federal prison for tax fraud and unpaid workers’ compensation premiums, federal prosecutors announced.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia said Christopher Daniels, 52, inflated business expenses for his company, Accedia Moving Services, and reported an $18,000 loss in 2017 when he should have reported profits of more than $187,000. Similarly, in 2016 he reported losses of more than $164,000 when he should have reported profits in excess of $410,000.
