Lawmaker Seeks to Clarify Mental Stress Coverage

A New York lawmaker proposed language to clarify a 2024 measure expanding coverage for mental stress. State lawmakers in 2017 passed legislation prohibiting the State Workers' Compensation Board from disallowing first responders' mental injury claims for stress incurred in work-related emergencies based on a finding that they were not exposed to stress greater than that which usually occurs in the normal work environment.
