The Washington state Department of Labor & Industries adopted rules revising 13 industry classifications as well as the classification code used for preferred workers.
The department said the changes that take effect July 1 will make the rules easier to understand and will not affect how it classifies employment or how much employers pay.
“These changes will not change the way we calculate employer rates, our reporting requirements or how we classify businesses,” the department said in a rule-making order.
