An updated version of Vermont's workers' compensation rules went into effect on Saturday, according to a notice posted on the state Labor Department's website.
The rules, originally proposed in February, make several substantive changes and also reorganize, reformat and clarify regulations that were last overhauled in 2001. Among the changes:
Insurance carriers have 90 days in which they can pay medical bills without accepting or denying the underlying claim.
