Hand Amputation Brings $109K in Fines Against Manufacturer

An industrial accident that cost a Georgia worker a portion of his hand will cost his employer $109,548 in penalties if sanctions proposed by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration are upheld. OSHA cited Dupont Yard Inc. in Homerville, Georgia, for allowing employees to operate unguarded machinery and failing to have an emergency stop switch on a conveyer after an employee of the wooden post manufacturer suffered a partial amputation of his hand.
