OSHA Cites Pilgrim's Pride Following Worker Death

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Pilgrim's Pride Co. for eight safety violations at its poultry-processing plant in Canton, Ga., following the death of a worker caught in an unguarded hopper last October.OSHA said in a press release that inspectors cited the Texas-based poultry processor for two repeat safety violations for failing to provide a process for the safe removal of locks allowing the startup of machinery after a shutdown and failing to provide strain relief for electrical cords.
