The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that it would use an updated life table to calculate life expectancy for workers’ compensation set-asides later this month.
CMS said it will begin using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s “Table 1: Life table for the total population: United States, 2020” on Saturday.
The updated life table will be used for newly submitted set-aside arrangements received on or after that date. The table will also be used for any work comp set-aside arrangement that is reopened on or after that date.
