Two business owners pleaded guilty to workers’ comp fraud charges in January, the first convictions of the year, the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation announced.
The BWC said it received a tip that Amanda Joy Klapp, owner of Amanda Joy Cleaning Co. in Hudson, was operating without providing coverage for employees. Investigators discovered that Klapp did not secure coverage until 2015, although she had employees when she opened the business in 2013.
After she did buy a policy, Klapp intentionally misreported her payroll to avoid premiums, the BWC said.
