After an explosion injured nine workers, GBW Railcar Services is facing proposed penalties up to $46,900 for not maintaining safety for their workers during cleanings, according to a press release from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
In December, gas vapors had filled a rail car being cleaned when something triggered an explosion, injuring seven workers and leaving two others with second-degree burns, forcing them to go through skin-graft surgery and physical therapy.
