Senate Approves Bill Requiring Employers to Give Notice When Claim Denied

The Democrat-majority Virginia legislature has approved another worker-friendly bill, one that would require employers to timely explain why a workers' compensation claim has been denied. Sponsored by Del. Lee Carter, D-Manassas, House Bill 46 now goes to the governor for his signature. The bill passed the House of Delegates in February and was amended in the Senate. A conference committee last week agreed to reject one Senate amendment, which would have exempted claims for certain diseases.
