The California Assembly Appropriations Committee passed bills that would create a presumption that heat injuries are compensable for agricultural workers and would expose employers to penalties for denying injured workers’ requests for time off for treatment.
The committee on Thursday voted 11-3 to pass both SB 1205, by Sen. John Laird, D-Santa Cruz, and SB 1299, by Sen. Dave Cortese, D-Campbell.
