Rochester Man Pleads Guilty After Cashing Mom's Benefits Checks

A Rochester man this week pleaded guilty to forging his deceased mother's signature and cashing nearly $4,000 in benefits checks, the state Inspector General's Office said.

Curtis Wilson, 56, admitted to defrauding a workers' compensation carrier after his mom died in 2015. Investigators determined that Wilson continued to cash her workers' comp benefits checks, totaling $3,915, until February 2016.

He was sentenced in Rochester City Court to one year of conditional discharge.

The Inspector General's Office credited PMA Management Corp., a provider of workers' compensation insurance and third-party administration services, as well as Rochester Regional Health, for their assistance in the investigation.
