The Idaho Department of Insurance said workers’ compensation rates are set to drop 1.2% in 2017.
The National Council on Compensation Insurance is recommending the overall rate reduction, the department said in a statement Tuesday. While claim frequency has remained consistent, medical costs per case have “leveled off” leading in an overall decrease in the average cost per claim, the department said.
The department increased rates by 0.2% for 2016 policies, following two consecutive cuts totaling 1.1% in 2015 and 2014.
