Labor Department Investigates Alleged Misclassification at Condo Project

The Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is investigating whether construction workers at a hotel-condominium project in Waikiki were misclassified as independent contractors. The Labor Department on Monday said in a statement that it and investigators from the Hawaii Department of Consumer Affairs and the U.S. Department of Labor responded to tips that workers at the Maile Sky Court redevelopment project were misclassified.
