Regulators Mull Policy Barring Compensation for Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections

Many professional athletes have used platelet-rich plasma injections as a way to heal injuries faster and get back on the job sooner. But the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division isn’t impressed with the therapy, and is moving toward renewing a policy that the treatment is not compensable in workers' compensation claims. The WCD’s Medical Advisory Committee on Friday is scheduled to review a recommendation made by a subcommittee that the therapy should not be compensable.
