Roofing Contractor Named 'Severe Violator' after Fatal Fall

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fined a Connecticut roofing contractor $77,400 and put the company in the Severe Violator Enforcement Program after a worker fell from a roof and died in Fairfield County, Conn., on Feb. 14.OSHA said in a news release that inspectors cited JC Silva Remodeling Services, of Bridgeport, Conn., for fall hazards at three job sites in Fairfield County.According to news reports, Francisco Amaral, 46, was replacing skylights at a Shelton, Conn., condominium complex when he fell from the roof of the complex.
