Amendments to Voc-Rehab Rules Proposed

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry is considering amendments to its vocational rehabilitation rules to adjust limits on how much counselors can bill, and establish penalties against insurers and employers that deny services or fail to pay claims. According to a draft of the proposed rule, the department plans to amend Rules 5220.1900 to: Allow payers to reduce hourly rates to qualified rehabilitation consultants by $16.49 per hour when a rehabilitation case exceeds 39 weeks from the first visit or when total billings exceed $7,541.
