Steel Plant Investigated After Worker is Crushed to Death

The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched an investigation of Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. in Knoxville after one of its workers died this week. Anthony McDowell was killed when a pallet loaded with bags of sand weighing more than two tons tipped over on him on Tuesday while working at the steel mill, the Knoxville News-Sentinel Reported.  A spokesman for Tennessee OSHA told the newspaper it could take up to three months to complete the investigation into what went wrong.
