While the number of citations against uninsured employers dropped 40% from 2013 to 2014, there was no significant decrease in the number of California businesses operating without workers' compensation insurance, Department of Industrial Relations Director Christine Baker says.
Baker said in an email that a WorkCompCentral article published March 9 reporting that the number of violations found by the Labor Enforcement Task Force dropped to 285 in 2014 from 476 the year before is "misleading" and needs clarification.
