Stop-Work Order Issued to Garment Businesses for Unsafe Machines

A multi-agency group formed to battle the underground economy in California issued stop-work orders to a pair of Los Angeles-area garment businesses that were allegedly using unsafe machinery.The Labor Enforcement Task Force said Vinh Loi Inc., a garment contractor with 26 workers at two locations in El Monte, was using an industrial fabric cutter with improper safeguards on the cutting blade, as well as the belt and pulley.Kinary Inc. lacked necessary safeguards on nine of the 11 industrial washers it used at an El Monte denim-washing business that employs 22 workers.
