The investigative arm of Ohio's workers' compensation bureau obtained 127 convictions in fiscal year 2016, according to the Special Investigations Department's annual report.
The department found wrongdoing in about half of the 1,503 cases it closed this year. Of those 668 cases, the department referred 198 for prosecution.
The average "closed founded" case identified $84,687 in savings to the Ohio workers' compensation system, the second highest average since fiscal year 1994.
