Amended Bill Would Create Fraud Unit Within DWC

California lawmakers next week will consider a proposal to create a new unit within the Division of Workers’ Compensation to research fraud and serve as a clearinghouse for data about fraud-fighting activities. Members of the Assembly Insurance Committee on April 19 will also hear a measure intended to ensure convicted providers are unable to pursue payments for liens through a possible loophole created by legislation enacted last year.
