A federal grand jury has indicted eight Florida men in an alleged drug compounding scam that prosecutors say netted $157 million from Medicare, Tricare and private insurance companies.
Prosecutors say that operators of several pharmacies and medical marketers in the Tampa Bay and Miami areas conspired to submit fraudulent claims to the federal health care programs and private insurers. The pharmacies submitted $633.9 million in bills for prescription compounded medications and were paid $157.4 million, according to the indictment.
