Supreme Court Upholds Contractor's Liability to Subcontractor's Injured Employee

The Nebraska Supreme Court on Friday ruled that a general contractor was liable for payment of workers’ compensation benefits to a subcontractor’s employee who fell from a roof. The court also ruled that the state lacked jurisdiction over the subcontractor’s out-of-state insurance carrier, which had canceled its policy due to nonpayment. The case was Martinez v.
