Maximum weekly compensation benefits will increase 2.6% on Jan. 1, to $944 from $920, the Industrial Commission announced this week.
Under North Carolina General Statutes Section 97-29, injured workers receive 66 2/3% of their pre-injury earnings, up to a maximum benefit equal to 110% of the state's average weekly wage.
The maximum benefit has climbed from $228 in 1982, following gradual increases in wages paid in the state.
