California employers could deny an injured worker’s request for time off to get medical treatment for business necessity, under a recently amended bill. Sen. John Laird, D-Santa Cruz, on Monday amended SB 1205 to add a business necessity exception to the bill that would declare employers that deny injured workers’ requests for time off to get treatment are violating the prohibition on retaliation in Labor Code Section 132a.
