Medical costs per claim have dropped in Texas after several years of rising expenses, the Workers Compensation Research Institute noted in a new report.
The CompScope Medical Benchmarks report, released Thursday, showed that of 18 states examined, Texas was one of seven that showed a decrease in medical costs. Costs in the state dropped almost 4% from 2014 to 2017, second only to North Carolina, which showed a decline of more than 6%, the report said.
California's medical costs dropped about 2% in that period.
The data was for claims with more than seven days of lost work time....
