Comp Division Publishes COVID Flyer

Friday, November 13, 2020 | 0

Oregon’s Workers’ Compensation Division on Thursday distributed an information flyer addressing issues related to COVID-19.

“Workers who have been quarantined or isolated due to a workplace exposure or have contracted COVID-19 in the workplace may be entitled to have their lost wages and medical expenses covered by their employer’s workers’ compensation insurance,” the division said in an industry notice. “Employers cannot retaliate or discriminate against a worker for filing a workers’ compensation claim or for raising workplace safety concerns.”

The division said its flyer, a copy of which is attached to the notice promulgated Thursday, highlights important facts for workers and employers and provides contacts for additional information. The flyer is available in English, Spanish and Russian.

“Please help us get this information to workers and employers by whatever means are most likely,” the industry notice reads. “This could include posting the flyer in common workspaces, sending it via newsletters or email notices, or posting it on insurer or policyholder websites.”

The division said the flyer is not a substitute for any compliance notices that Oregon OSHA requires to be posted in the workplace.
