A Hawaii policy committee passed a bill that would require doctors performing independent medical examinations to be qualified to treat the injured worker’s condition, after adopting amendments changing the proposed effective date of the measure for procedural purposes.
The House Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce on Friday voted 8-0 to pass HB 2202, by Rep. Aaron Ling Johanson, D-Moanalua. The bill would require doctors selected to conduct IMEs to have the necessary qualification to treat the condition claimed by the injured worker.
