A Florida letter carrier has been convicted by a federal grand jury after investigators observed her scuba diving, boating and riding on a 40-foot-tall waterslide while claiming she was too disabled to work.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said the jury found 54-year-old Susan J. Gissy of Crystal River guilty of one count of theft of government funds and two counts of concealing a material fact in connection with the receipt of workers’ compensation benefits. She faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison during sentencing, scheduled for March 5.
