A woman who worked as a bookkeeper and personal care aide while receiving workers’ compensation benefits was ordered to pay $40,000 in restitution, the New York State Inspector General’s Office announced.
Joanne Florek, 55, pleaded guilty to petit larceny in January and received a “conditional discharge” on May 23. A conditional discharge is a sentence that doesn’t include incarceration or supervised probation but imposes other requirements on a defendant. In this case, Florek must pay $40,000 in restitution.
