Labor Commission Proposes Reduction in Reinsurance Fund Assessment

The Utah Labor commission is proposing to cut next year’s assessment by 33% for the Employers' Reinsurance Fund, which had a deficit of $6.8 million as of June 30. Deloitte Consulting in September released its analysis of the Utah second injury fund, saying the program hasn’t accepted new claims since 1994 but still owes at least $166 million.
