Postal Worker Raced Motorcycles While on Benefits, Indictment Says

Friday, March 23, 2018 | 0

A former Ohio mail carrier fell on ice in 2011, injured his knee, and received almost $94,000 in workers' compensation benefits over the next two years.

During that time, he also participated in 35 motorcycle races, according to an indictment that was reported by the Dayton Daily News.

Jerry French was indicted in federal court last week for making allegedly false statements to doctors and his employer, saying he couldn't work for a year and then could only stand light duty after that, the report said.

Agents with the Postal Service's Inspector General's Office observed French racing motorcycles 35 times, loading trailers and carrying equipment during the period he collected benefits in 2011, 2012 and 2013, the newspaper reported.
