Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker on Monday signed into law a bill to limit the amount of opioids that could be provided in an initial prescription and require physicians consult with a prescription drug monitoring database before prescribing certain narcotics.
House Bill 4056 creates the first law in the nation limiting an initial opioid prescription to a seven-day supply, the governor’s office said in a statement.
