The Los Angeles Times reported on 5/24/00, first page of Business section C, that the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that employers cannot deny employment to disabled people where the job would pose a safety hazard to the employee. In Mario Echazabal vs. Chevron, referencing the American with Disabilities Act, the Court states: 'Congress concluded that disabled persons should be afforded the opportunity to decide for themselves what risks to undertake'.
