The Illinois Earth Care Workers' Compensation Trust has been placed into liquidation on the request of Illinois Insurance Director Nathaniel S. Shapo.
The Circuit Court of Cook County granted the request Oct. 26, after the insurance department found the pool was insolvent by at least $6 million.
The trust had been in conservation since Aug. 19, 1999. Earth Care has not been able to recover adequate funds from its members after Shapo had ordered the company to assess additional funds to cure the deficiencies in its financial condition.
