New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Sunday signed legislation to extend the time frame for 9/11 workers and volunteers to seek lost wage and medical benefits for working at Ground Zero.
The legislation (Senate Bill 5745-C and Assembly Bill 7958-C) extends the deadline for individuals to register under the World Trade Center Disability Law until Sept. 11, 2018.
It allows additional individuals to receive workers’ compensation, disability and accidental death benefits as a result of their participation in the rescue, recovery and cleanup operations at the Twin Towers.
