A Texas appellate court ruled that a trial judge should have thrown out a worker’s civil suit against a city for his injuries from being struck by a light pole that fell.
Fausto Torres worked for the Laredo Independent School District. In February 2019, a light pole in front of the Webb County Courthouse fell on Torres while he was installing bleachers for a parade.
LISD had workers’ compensation coverage with Texas Mutual Insurance Co., which paid benefits to Torres.
