The California Office of Administrative Law approved new medical provider network regulations implementing provisions from the 2012 reform measure such as the requirement for networks to have assistants who can help injured workers schedule appointments.
Each network must have at least three available physicians for an injured worker to choose from. If a network fails to meet time and location access standards, it must have a written policy permitting out-of-network treatment, under the rules that took effect Aug. 27.
