Hawaii Gov. David Ige signed into law a bill allowing some nurses to certify that a person suffers from an occupational disability, and allowing injured workers to appeal a benefit denial anywhere in the state.
House Bill 2375, by Rep. Scott Saiki, D-McMully, also increases the penalty for employers that fail to comply with a carrier’s request for information on wages, hours and duration of employment.
Changes in HB 2375 took effect immediately when the governor signed the bill on July 10.
