Medical Board Posts FAQ on Mandatory Use of CURES

The Medical Board of California posted to its website answers to frequently asked questions about the requirement for providers to consult with the state’s prescription drug-monitoring database when prescribing certain controlled substances. Starting Oct. 2, providers must query the Controlled Substances Utilization Review and Evaluation System and run a “patient activity report” the first time a patient is prescribed a Schedule II through IV drug.
