Following news that the city of Paterson suspended risk manager Samir Goow amid an investigation into skyrocketing workers’ compensation medical payments, the Paterson Public Schools have suspended Goow as well.
Goow was an insurance consultant for the school district.
City school officials have suspended Goow’s contract and revoked his access to district buildings, records and computers, NorthJersey.com reports. The school district also plans to review vendor payments overseen by Goow.
The city of Paterson suspended Goow after its insurance administrator raised concerns about Paterson’s sharply increased payments to workers’ compensation medical providers.
The payments had increased by several million dollars even though the number of claims filed had decreased, city officials told NorthJersey.com.
