The Senate Committee on Insurance and Financial Institutions has rejected a proposal that would have prohibited undocumented workers from receiving workers' compensation benefits.
The proposal had been attached to Substitute House Bill 27, the workers' compensation budget bill, by Rep. Bill Seitz, R-Cincinnati, who has pushed to exclude undocumented workers from the workers' compensation system for several years, according to Policy Matters Ohio researcher Michael Shields.
